Microsoft To Move Bulk Of $1 Billion In U.S. Ad Spending To Digital

"We're actually pretty confident that by 2010, the majority of our media mix will shift to digital," said Mich Mathews, senior vice president of the company's central marketing group, at the AAAAs media conference.

You don't have to be Microsoft or a major television network to understand the symbolic nature of this story.

It's as clear a sign as small business should need to help them understand that they too must get digital, get online, start using the marketing tool that's driving the engine these days.

I've already quoted the statistic that 44% of small businesses don't even have a web site. It's time to wake up and smell the coffee. The train has already left the station. That 44% is already in a position of having to play catch-up.

Boosting Your Web Presence

"According to a recent AMI Partners study of businesses with fewer than one hundred employees, only 56% had a website. With the growing dependence on Internet search as the primary means for information discovery, it's important for even the smallest of businesses to have some sort of web presence." - Paul Greenberg commenting to Brent Leary host of "Technology for Business Sake"

Are Web sites just for ECommerce?

According to a recent study cited in eMarketer.com, 58% of broadband users who did research on a product made the purchase in a store.

You may not be selling product online, but you're definitely selling your brand. You'd better do a good job convincing me online that you're my best choice; otherwise, you probably won't see my face in front of your cash register.

New Site Launch: Bible Baptist Church, Cassville, MO

Bible Baptist Church in Cassville, Missouri commissioned a complete site redesign. They had hoped to get search engine traffic from their web site but weren't getting any. They had previously paid for hosting and used a "SiteBuilder" to build their web site. SiteBuilders make it easy for anyone to build a web site but it is very rarely a quality web site that will get noticed (i.e. indexed) and rank well with the search engines.
